Welcome new and returning coaches! Coaching is an important process to extend any learning and it is an integral part of the Golden LEAF Scholars Leadership Program. Coaches work one-on-one with Golden LEAF Scholars throughout their freshman and sophomore academic years and through their summer experience. Our evaluations continue to reflect how highly Scholars view the coaching component. In addition, our evaluations demonstrate that the coaches also grow in significant ways through the coaching process.
So, if you want to make a difference in the lives of young people from rural NC who are the future leaders and change makers, we encourage you to apply to become a coach for the Golden LEAF Scholars Leadership Program. Please click the below link to apply.
This is a competitive process and we encourage people to apply who have a passion for, or experience in, coaching and mentoring youth. Coaches are awarded a stipend of $2,000 from the Golden LEAF Foundation for their contribution to the program.
Coaches are required to make a 10-month commitment to the program.

WHAT DOES A COACH DO?
Coaches make a 10-month commitment to mentor college-age youth by attending mandatory conference weekend events (two per year) and monthly check-in calls with scholars. They also participate in a new coach training in December.
Through coaching, you will:
- Gain access to world class leadership education that you can take back to your home organization in NC
- Become connected to a community of people statewide who care about NC
- Make a sincere investment in the next generation of NC leaders
